Grace travelled to Cardiff to represent the North area at the Welsh Zinc and Copper Finals, and came away with plenty to be proud of after another successful weekend of gymnastics.

After qualifying at the North Wales competition a few weeks earlier, Grace had been working hard in training to polish her routines and prepare for the step up to a major Welsh final. The competition brought together gymnasts from across Wales, making it a valuable chance to test routines under pressure, support teammates, and show how much progress had been made.

For Grace, the day was packed with memorable moments, from a confident new skill on floor to a strong vault result and an improved performance on bars. There were challenges too, especially on beam, but the way she responded showed real character.

Grace earned her place after a strong North Wales qualifier

Reaching a Welsh final takes commitment long before competition day. Grace qualified through the North Wales competition, where she earned her place to represent the North area in Cardiff.

That qualification gave her a few focused weeks to work with her coach, Tara, on the details that matter at finals level. In gymnastics, small improvements can make a big difference. A cleaner landing, a sharper arm position, a more secure connection or a little more confidence going into a new skill can all help a routine stand out.

Grace used that time well. She went into the final prepared, determined, and ready to show the routines she had been building in training.

A new full twist made floor a major highlight

One of the biggest moments of Grace’s day came on floor, where she performed her new full twist.

Adding a new skill at a major final is a big step. It takes confidence to compete a skill that has been developed in training, especially when the pressure of a final can make every movement feel bigger. Grace handled that pressure well and delivered a routine with a clear highlight.

The full twist was more than just a new element. It showed her growing confidence, her willingness to push forward, and her ability to trust the work she had put in before the event.

Bars showed clear improvement

Grace also showed strong progress on bars, producing an improved bar routine at the finals.

Bars can be one of the most demanding pieces of apparatus. It requires strength, timing, shaping, and the confidence to move smoothly from one element to the next. Improvements often come from a lot of repeated work in training, especially on form, casts, swings, and transitions.

Grace’s improved routine was a clear sign of that effort. It showed that she had taken feedback on board and worked to tidy the details ahead of the competition.

A fabulous vault performance earned third place

Grace’s vault was one of the standout results of the competition. She produced a fabulous performance and placed 3rd on vault, a brilliant achievement at Welsh finals level.

Grace’s result showed the strength of her work on this apparatus. Placing third gave her a well-earned individual highlight and marked one of the proudest moments of the weekend.

A podium place at a Welsh final is something to celebrate. It reflects not only what happened on the day, but also the hours of preparation behind it. Grace’s vault showed confidence, commitment, and the ability to deliver when it counted.

Beam brought challenges, but also praise

Beam was not as smooth as Grace would have hoped. She had some uncharacteristic falls, which can happen even to well-prepared gymnasts. Beam is a tough piece of apparatus because it demands precision, balance, and calm under pressure.

What mattered was how Grace carried on.

Despite the falls, she was praised for her tidiness, her beautiful split jump, and her connections. Those comments are important because they show that judges and coaches could still see the quality in her work. Even when a routine does not go perfectly, clean technique and strong presentation still stand out.

Team spirit helped North Wales to fourth place

Grace also showed fantastic team spirit throughout the weekend. She supported the other North Wales girls and played her part in helping the team finish 4th overall.

Team spirit is a huge part of gymnastics competitions. Even though gymnasts perform their own routines, the support from teammates can make a real difference. A kind word before a routine, a cheer after a landing, or encouragement after a mistake can help everyone feel stronger.

Grace contributed to that positive atmosphere. She celebrated with others, supported the team, and represented the North area with pride.

A fourth-place team finish at a Welsh final is a strong result. It reflects the effort of every gymnast involved and the support from coaches who helped them prepare and compete.

Tara’s support made the weekend even more special

Grace’s coach, Tara, was very proud of her performance and attitude across the competition.

A big thank you also goes to Tara for travelling down to Cardiff once again to support Grace. Coach support on competition day is invaluable. It helps gymnasts stay calm, focused, and ready for each apparatus. It also gives them someone trusted nearby when nerves rise or routines do not go exactly to plan.

Grace can look back on the Welsh Zinc and Copper Finals with pride. She competed new skills, showed progress, earned a brilliant third place on vault, supported her teammates, and represented the North area with confidence. Most of all, she showed the kind of determination and attitude that will keep helping her grow in the sport.
